In-vitro Mutagenic Studies in Solanum viarum
نویسندگان
چکیده
Somaclonal variation for morphological traits was studied in both control and mutagen (chemical and physical) treated progenies of two varieties of Solanum viarum. The SC1, SC1M1 (first generation following tissue culture) and SC2, SC2M2 (second generation) of both 2n and 4n varieties on field evaluation showed bidirectional variation for plant height, plant spread, number of flowers and fruits per node and fresh fruit weight. Variation was more in number of fruits per node and fresh weight in physical mutagen treated progenies in both the generations. The qualitative variations observed were less spine plants, dwarf plants, sterile plant types and complete pollen sterility. The frequency of variations was different between varieties to varying degrees. SC2 and SC2M2 progenies on evaluation revealed increased variability compared to seed control for all the traits indicating that these variabilities are not epigenetic in nature.

A green house nursery study was conducted to assess the interaction between arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungus, Glomus aggregatum and some plant growth promoting rhizomicrooganisms (PGPR's), Bacillus coagulans and Trichoderma harzianum, in soil and their consequent effect on growth, nutrition and content of secondary metabolities of Solanum viarum seedlings. Triple inoculation of G. aggregatum+...

Solanum mauritianum Scopoli and Solanum sisymbriifolium Lamarck are major exotic weeds in South Africa, while Solanum viarum Dunal is similarly problematic in the United States of America. All three species are native to northeastern Argentina and southeastern Paraguay, where they were surveyed for natural enemies in February 1998. Insect agents for Solanum weeds have a tendency to extend their...

From 2003 to 2008, 176,643 Gratiana boliviana Spaeth (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) were released in Florida as part of a biological control program targeting tropical soda apple (TSA) Solanum viarum Dunal (Solanaceae). The spatial distribution of releases was clustered with more beetles released in south/central Florida than further north. A survey conducted in the fall of 2008 found G. bolviana ...
